Our people
Ludic Creative was founded by Cindy Tonkin, Glen Bell and Richard Bennett.
Cindy Tonkin
Cindy Tonkin officially learnt to improvise in 1999. Although in retrospect, most things in her life have been about making it all up on the spot.
Cindy has a raft of qualifications: An NLP Master Practitioner and Master Trainer Candidate. A Maîtrise from the Université de Paris VIII à St–Denis. A first-class honours degree from Sydney University. Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training, MBTI, Disc and Brain–Map accreditations. She is a Certified Management Consultant. She also takes as many improvisation classes as she can. She recently did her first stand up gig, and she sings and does mixed media artwork. Cindy is the production arm of the Theatresports® Scared Scriptless weekly show in Petersham, Sydney.
Cindy's consulting background was originally in reengineering and productivity improvement. For the past 10 years she has also worked with consultants and managers to improve their influence, leadership and consulting skills. She does this in the training room and as an executive coach.
More than 100 organisations have used Cindy's services. Over half her work is repeat business. In 2006 clients have included the Commonwealth Bank, Toyota Financial Services, the Cancer Council of Victoria, Unilever, UTS and a number of smaller consultancies and business. She is the author of 5 books on consulting, including an AIM bestseller. She regularly shares the Theatresports® improvised comedy stage with some of the greatest minds in Sydney comedy.
Richard Bennett
Richard Bennett is an accomplished improviser and comedy performer, with a background in radio and video production, people management and technical mentoring.
Richard has produced and performed in improvised radio since 1996, moving on to stage based improv in 2000, and subsequently taking on directorship of Sydney's only weekly improv show, Scared Scriptless. He also directed the 2005 Cranston Cup at the Seymour Centre, regularly produces Impro Australia shows at the Enmore Theatre, and recently started Sydney's only regular long form improv show, The Late Show.
With a background in technical mentoring, management consulting and project management, both at large corporates such as KPMG and IBM, government agencies such as the ACCC, and small startups, Richard's main strengths are leading and mentoring engineering staff, particularly in agile, adaptive or high risk environments. He understands small teams, the technical (and non-technical) mindset, and the use of improvisation in such environments.
He has also organised and presented at countless conferences and workshops in Australia and in the U.S., is recognised as an international authority in various technical domains, has developed and sold almost a dozen different software packages over the last 20 years, and he still finds time to cut code and to dye his hair blue.
Glen Bell
Glen has been improvising on stage for over five years. He also hosts shows and has done stand up comedy.
The right hand side of Glen's brain has been kept busy earning a Bachelor of Science (Computing and Mathematics, University of Queensland), Bachelor of Arts (Economics, University of Queensland) and a Master of Business (Information Technology Management, University of Technology, Sydney). He has lectured masters levels students in Information Technology Strategic Planning and Advanced Project Management as well as presenting to numerous business conferences on topics such as change management and business systems planning. He wrote and taught the Computer Information Systems subject for the Australian School of Taxation, University of NSW.
Glen has a unique ability to grasp the 'big picture' and express it in a form that is suitable for technical and business audiences. His consulting engagements typically focus on defining a business problem and formulating strategies to solve the problem. He is a polished and effective workshop facilitator with experience in helping major decision making processes. Glen has worked on projects in North America, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand and throughout Australia.
Glen manages publicity for the Theatresports© Scared Scriptless weekly show in Sydney.
